Clases de cocina!

Clases de cocina (cooking classes)!

So last week I told Pili that I wanted to learn how to make some traditional chilean food so I could cook it back home for everyone. Today (wednesday 26 de agosto 2009), I had my first class. Pili taught Erin and I how to make "manjar" and "pan de huevos." Manjar is the same as dulce de leche if anyone had tried that, its pretty much amazing and people eat it here like crazy. If they could I'm sure they would eat it on everything. It kind of reminds me of that movie "Elf" where he puts maple syrup on everything. Yeah the chileans are pretty much the same, they put manjar on all different kinds of things. But I am not surprised because it is delicious!

And this is what Pan de Huevo looks like (see below). Well sort of, it looks better in person and with Pili's recipe. I realized half-way through the
cooking lesson that I should have been taking photos of each step to show you all and them myself, easier to remember, more than just writing down the recipe. So next time I am going to take photos to share the experience with you all! :)

Next week's lesson: Sopaipillas, Chancaca,
Pebre, and I think another salsa verde
(green sauce) made with cilantro and other
ingredientes. So yes I will share that with you all next week! I am very excited, can't wait to
get home, cook/bake with my mum and then share all this yummy food with you all.
