More of July 4th!
Okay so all of these photos are from Pablo Neruda's house, La Isla Negra. And even though the name isla negra means black island...it is neither black nor and island. :) It is extremely beautiful! I bet it is even prettier without the rain too.
One of the few photos of myself...not too many of those yet. I just enjoy taking the photos, not being in them. Everything is so beautiful here, it doesn't need me in it to take away from its wonderfulness. :)
Below are two photos from windows inside neruda's house...he had the best view! and lots of windows!
This is the only inside part of neruda's house that you will see..but it shows my favorite part, the colored glass! me encanta mucho! :)
Above: the little fería (market) area. And everyone enjoying the rain, you can tell right? ;)
These were adorable puppies that I saw in the little fería place a little ways down the road to Pablo Neruda's house...and of course I had to show you all their cuteness!
Okay so I must be too tired to be blogging tonight, or I just decided to post each little part of the journey separately! So after we went to Pomaire, we went to La Isla Negra... another of of Pablo Neruda's houses. I have finally seen all three! And this one was probably my favorite, just because it was right by the ocean and you could hear the waves (las olas) and it was amazing. I don't know how I am going to leave this place and go home and not have an ocean...that will be the biggest thing I miss here. Can someone work on moving the ocean to Boise? Yeah, thanks!
The only bummer about La Isla Negra is that it started to rain here, but I didn't let it put a damper on the experience or day. I still loved it! I think Pablo and I would have been friends if we were living at the same time. The one thing I have decided to take from his is that when I go home I am only going to drink things out of colored glasses...thats what he did and for some reason I love it. Wierd I know, but it is cool okay! haha :) He was quite the partier and ladies man in his day though. Oh and I don't know if I told you guys, but he loved boats, so all of his houses on the inside feel like you are on a ship, with the small staircases and the shape of the rooms. I wish I was able to take photos inside, but it wasn't allowed, because they were amazing! He had so many cool things, I wish I could live in one of his houses. I would feel right at home. :)
Oh and almost forgot, it was so "bacan." I was told that the people from the south kind of string their words together, almost like they are singing. Well I had really no idea what they meant until my tour guide for Isla Negra..this woman had to have been from the south of Chile, because she totally sounded like she was singing, there was so much flow or fluidity when she spoke...it actually made me really calm and peaceful. Haha. Just had to add that little piece of nonsense. :)
