One more July 4th addition!
I almost forgot to add about Marcello's brithday party on saturday night! I can't believe it. It was a big carrete (party) at the house with lots of family and friends. I was so tired from the night before and the long day, I could barely stay away. But marcello loved our gift, erin javi and I bought him a pair of shoes that he loved and a book about the mayas. Everyone spoke so fast though, it was so hard to understand. But I really enjoyed observing the family dynamics and trying to pick out things when people would talk. we had TONS of food too. I thought I was going to die I was so stuffed... and more just kept coming and I had to be polite and try it all. I don't know how they do it here. It was fun when the family turned off all of the lights and brought out the torta (cake) and we all sang happy birthday in spanish to marcello, oh and then we sang it in english too...yay for us. ahha. We all tried his cake...it was definitely interesting. It tasted like pure sugar to me, like when icing sits for a while and gets grainy and all you taste is sugar? yeah well this whole cake tasted like that...there was no fluffy cake to be seen. We also had an apple torta, like an apple pie type thing...and that was amazing! So we just sat around and talked and then Pili noticed how tired I was. She told me from across the room to go sit by her and she told me that my eyes were closing on and she knew I had had a long night and day, and then she shoved me off to bed. I didn't want to leave the party but I was just too tired! Just too much going on here I guess. :)
Okay no more posts for one day...I think my 4 or 5 is enough. I will try to blog about today (sunday, july 5th - we went to the beaches today) as soon as I can. Today was the best day ever, so I can't wait to tell you all about it! :)
Buenas Noches everyone! I have school tomorrow, oh no!
